unleashed your creativity!

Strengths: this is certainly the widest lens you can get for your APS-C SLR Camera such as Rebel XT or XTi. Quality, build, and Look!

Weakness: most expensive single lens i ever get!

this is a really good lens for APS-C SLR Camera. i have a Canon Rebel XT, and i have a 18-125mm lens. 10mm does make a huge difference when taking pictures. The optic quality is excellant, and the build quality is rock-solid. this is one expensive lens, but in order to go to the wide end, you just gotta have it!

Good wideangle lens for the price

Strengths: price, sharpness

Weakness: none

This is my new favorite lens! This lens is sharp at all apertures and takes stunning photos. 10mm is super-fun and I'm having a great time taking wide angle shots. I find that this lens is on my camera most of the time now. Keep in mind, this lens is designed for cameras with a crop-factor- so Canon 5D owners need to look elsewhere. Also, if you plan on using a flash (430EX/580EX) the use of the...

Sigma Zoom Super Wide Angle 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC...

Strengths: The lens has non-rotating constant focus ring. The texture surface makes it easy to handle and control. The optics are clear and no noticeable vignette. Good value for cost.

Weakness: Uses a 77mm filter and the zoom ring is located at the back of the len near the body of the camera. Would be easier to use if located in the front.

Overall, it is an excellent value for the money. The auto focus is sharp and very responsive. The photos are very sharp and clear. The texture surface on the lens makes use of the manual focus easy. I would highly recommend it.

Good lens... if you're lucky to get a good copy

Strengths: Very sharp at the center, good build, front lens element does not rotate, very good value for the money.

Weakness: Quality control problems.

The first copy of the lens that I got had a decentered lens element. The defect was noticeable when I took photos at the wide angle with a wide open aperture -- the left side of the picture was very soft. The problem disappeared when stopped down. If you are willing to go through several copies to find one that is acceptable quality, this is a good value for the money.

Outstanding Image Quality on this Wide Angle Lens...

Strengths: Build Quality, Image Quality, Wide Angle

Weakness: Distortion at widest angle

This is my 2nd Sigma lens for my canon digital rebel. I also have the sigma 18-200mm which I absolutely love. I purchased this to be able to shoot wider shots, which is tough with the digitals and their 1.6x crop factor. My 18-200, is more like 28-300 in 35mm equivalent, so this 10mm definitely gets the job done. I'm blown away by the image quality and overall build quality of this lens. It...

Very good lens overall

Strengths: Sharp image, the widest angle you can get on EF-S body, fast focus

Weakness: a little too expensive, not good for EF body

Got this lens for my Canon Rebel XT. I needed a wide angle zoom because i shoot a lot of architecture. Then i found this 10mm (equivalent to 16mm). This lens is excellent as far as optical quality goes. Not as sharp as Canon L series lens but ALMOST! Not much vignetting, focus really fast. Downsides are: (1) a little too expensive at the price of $450+, (2) it's EF-S mount, which is only good for...

Awesome Lens!

Strengths: Very sharp, good price (relative to competition), solid

Weakness: Focusing ring doesn't stop turning

This is a very nice lens. I'm using it with the Rebel XT. With the 1.6x factor, this and the Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 are your only two real choices for wide angle lenses. For $100+ less, this lens gets you essentially the same thing. It's doubtful that those extra 2mm and the wider aperture (f/4 v f/3.5) are worth that much to you just to have a Canon lens. Anyway, the photos come out very...

Has it's uses, but not good where a flash is required

Strengths: Great for landscape pictures

Weakness: Don't try to use this indoors or for close pictures that require a flash

I bought this for two reasons... first so that I could better capture landscapes on family vacations.... I always hated the fact that my pictures never truely reflected the width of the view that I was seeing. I also bought it hoping to get better indoor event pictures (kids birthday parties, etc). Rooms are usually small and it's tough to take overall pictures of the event. I figured this lens...

Great value

Strengths: Great wide angle, strong construction.

Weakness: Heavy

I received my lens today, and immediately it has become my new favorite lens. You can unleash your creativity with this lens. I'm looking forward to exploring all the options this lens has to offer. I know I'll be using it a great deal for interior decorating shots, and for architectural shots.

Sigma needs to improve on their QA

Strengths: Nice wide angle on AP-C, durable, free case and hood

Weakness: Bad QA by Sigma (my copy is soft across all apertures)

I'm sure that you've all heard that Sigma has pretty poor QA. It's true. Regardless of what aperture I set my 10-20 at, it's soft. In fact, I have to say that the lense on my 30D has poorer resolving power than some wide-angle compact cameras I've used. Certainly not what I expected for a $500 lense. On the other hand, many people have said you need to approach Sigma to switch out your lense 2-3...
