Nikon Wide Angle Zoom ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens
Strengths: Sharp images, no distortion at 12mm, fast focus
Weakness: wide shape at 77mm, manual focus ring near auto focus ring, minor points here. Expensive but you get what you pay for in quality photos.
Outstanding picture results in all lighting. Works well with build in D40 flash. Can't wait to try with SB-800 flash. Great for indoor Realtor photos for whole room look. Takes good portraits but photo subjects can get nervous at first with camera so close to them. Solid / fast auto focus speed. Clear multi-coated UV filter prevents ghosts around lighting. Worth the extra cost if you want the...

A little pricey but a fantastic wide angle lens!
Strengths: Widest wide angle with Nikon quality. Really sharp. Perfect match for any Nikon DX body. Solid build quality.
Weakness: Pricey. Wish could have been 10mm like the Sigma.
Although this is a f/4 lens, it is quite sharp. Just a tad soft at 12mm, but then great at 14mm and really excellent beyond that. I use it to complement my 18-200VR and at 18mm, this lens is far sharper than my 18-200. Its a little heavy but much lighter than the far pricier and heavier 14-24 f/2.8. I highly recommend this for architectural shots. With the M/A switch there is no need to switch...

Zoom Super Wide Angle AF 12-24mm f/4G ED-IF DX AF-S Autofocus Lens for Digital Cameras
Strengths: Light weight, super sharp pictures, excellent color rendition
Weakness: Not of a professional build, expensive; Image distortion at the wide end.
Works very well with D70 and D200. Goood wide angle range. Happy with the image quality. Hope they come out with a 10-20mm superwide angle like Sigma. Only wide angle for the digital bodies.

Nikon Zoom Super Wide Angle AF 12-24mm f/4G ED-IF DX AF-S Autofocus Lens for Digital Cameras
Strengths: Extreme wide angle made for digital cameras and accepts standard filters
Weakness: Price?
The Nikon Zoom Super Wide Angle AF 12-24mm f/4G ED-IF DX AF-S Autofocus Lens for Digital Cameras is a lens that allows the digital photographer to capture a field of view not readily available to those using digital cameras. I am using it with a Nikon D2X camera and it really gives you a new area of subject matter to explore. I especially like the fact that this lens accepts standard 77mm filters...

Great lens
Strengths: Nice lightweight compact and image quality is quite sharp and contrasty for a super wide lens for DSLR system...
Weakness: Cost for a F/4 lens
I sold off my superb 17-35mm f/2.8 lens when I switched to digital. Had to get a wide angle lens for the landscape photography I hae done previously. THis was the best choice and now I know why.
I have had this lens for abou 6 months now and find it to be a sharp and contrasty image on the DSLR I use..
