still a great lens!
Strengths: Image quality--sharp, decent color saturation, 2.8 full-range aperture; solid build quality; 62mm filters.
Weakness: push zoom, it's also counterintuitive: widens as you push away from camera. Weight. Focus ring spins and it's close to the zoom.
This is an older Nikkor lens, but it's been a long-time, dependable staple in Nikon's standard zooms. It's sharp, focuses fast enough, delivers great bokeh and color. It was replaced by the 28-70mm, with which I have no experience. But unless the new version is a stellar lens, I think the money saved on the earlier model makes it hard to pass by.
